Concepts

The few ideas you need to manage work confidently.

Hosts and units

A host is a machine in your inventory. Each host has its own capacity, installed runtimes and permission policy.

A unit is a managed session:

KindUse it for
OrchestratorCoordinating ongoing work, with context refresh enabled.
LaneA bounded task run through a framework role or command.
AgentA general interactive agent session.
airship host ls
airship status --host all

Needs You and decisions

Agents can ask a question with a recommendation. Only a human can answer. airship delivers that answer verbatim. Lanes cannot ask decisions.

Needs You in the app collects decisions and runtime dialogs. A decision is a question from an agent; a runtime approval is permission to perform a particular action. Read each card before answering.

History

Closing a unit preserves its history entry. Use history to find earlier work and resume a conversation when you need it.

airship history ls
airship help history resume

Moves

A move carries a unit’s workspace, session and decisions to another host. It checks the destination’s capacity, runtime, workspace and permissions before making changes.

airship move check helper --to box-a
airship move helper --to box-a

Dependencies may need rebuilding; credentials and running services are not portable workspace state. The destination’s permission policy applies. A failed move may roll back or stop in a recoverable state. Follow the reported remedy in Troubleshooting.

Permission modes

Hosts start in Asks first. Auto-review uses runtime approval review where available and falls back to Asks first. Unattended removes runtime approval prompts and the runtime sandbox. Read Security and permissions before changing modes.

Frameworks

A framework defines your working method: roles, task runners, briefs and checks. The shipped default framework includes build, review, resolve and gate lanes.

airship role ls
airship framework describe
airship lane run checks -- make test

Use airship framework use none for core sessions, decisions, refresh and moves without a framework workflow. That changes the selected framework; inspect your current setup first.
