Install

Install the CLI, the Mac app, or both.

CLI: macOS and Linux

Each host needs Python 3.12+, tmux 3.2+, and an installed, authenticated Claude Code and/or Codex CLI. Git is needed for worktrees and moving Git workspaces. The default framework’s GitHub lanes also need an authenticated gh CLI.

Release availability: the installer needs a published GitHub release. If the download returns 404, use Install from source below.

curl -fsSL https://airship.party/install.sh | sh
export PATH="$HOME/.airship/bin:$PATH"
airship doctor

Add the PATH line to your shell startup file yourself; the installer does not edit it. The installer verifies release checksums, installs the CLI and pins the Python interpreter used by its wrapper.

Initialization sets up the tmux service and periodic health checks. To inspect the plan first:

curl -fsSL https://airship.party/install.sh | sh -s -- --no-init
airship init --dry-run
airship init

Use airship init --no-scheduler if you will run ticks yourself. A later airship init --scheduler enables scheduling.

Mac app: macOS 15 or later

Download Airship-<version>.dmg from GitHub Releases, open it and drag Airship to Applications. Open the installed app and choose Install and set up.

The app includes its matching CLI. Setup checks Python and tmux and explains how to install anything missing. You do not need a source checkout.

Homebrew

Download the release’s cask and install the local file:

curl -fsSL https://github.com/marker-ai/airship/releases/latest/download/airship.rb -o airship.rb
brew install --cask ./airship.rb

The DMG and cask become available when a signed release is published. If those assets are absent, use the CLI installation above; unsigned CI artifacts are development builds.

Install from source

If release downloads are unavailable, build the CLI from the public source repository. This needs Python 3.12+, Git and Make in addition to tmux.

git clone https://github.com/marker-ai/airship.git
cd airship
make release-artifacts PYTHON=python3.12
sh dist/install.sh --from dist --python python3.12
export PATH="$HOME/.airship/bin:$PATH"

This installs the CLI, not the Mac app. For the app, wait for a signed DMG release or follow the source repository’s app build instructions.

Check your installation

airship version
airship doctor

Continue to the quickstart. For remote hosts, also set up SSH key authentication.
